First edition of the 2026 NDP 2008-born Oceania prospect rankings!
Not the strongest group here compared to its predecessors, but an intriguing mix of guys at the split between Australia and New Zealand. Still holds some interesting pieces who can rise as recruits this year
I left the gym really impressed with what I saw from 6’9 Wieu Atuer of @OrangevillePrep
For starters, the Australian passes the eye test with flying colours, has a 7’2 wingspan & great body language. Lined up for a free throw, grabbed his own rebound & punched it home. Special.
🌊 Ready to make a splash at the Oceania Championships
@BasketballAus has announced the squads of 12 set to go for Gold at December’s FIBA U17 Oceania Championships… And they are STACKED.
Wieu Atuer (@WieuAtuer ) - 2026 / 6’7+ F. A shot-altering forward whose impactful paint presence will fit in any system on the court. Has sensible Bball instincts and is a tireless rebounder on both ends—a Swift defender on the perimeter with a long wingspan to defend at the rim.
A huge congratulations to Basketball WA and the WA U18’s who took out the Bronze medal at the 2025 U18 National Championships today! 🥉
Shout out to Wildcats Academy players Luke Paul, Wieu Atuer, John Aryang, Marley Sam, Sam Johnson and coach Nic Vlahov who were part of the squad! ❤️
The kids are alright 👌
