It took until the start of week 5 of my symptoms for someone to decide what I have isn’t contagious. That call may have come sooner, but it it took 2 weeks to get in to see an infectious disease specialist. Which somehow came and went before I got my MPX test results. 🤯
I’m a potential #Monkeypox case. Swabbed a week ago. Still no results. Luckily I am in a position where I can isolate and work from home. Not everyone has that luxury.
Update: Today I got my results back. From the second MPX swab two weeks ago. An entire MONTH after my first swab that was ultimately rejected. I’m negative, but what is this response?!?
We used to have a Center that tried to Control Disease. Imagine if the agency that responded to the 2003 Monkeypox outbreak in the Midwest was with us today. When, exactly, did we go off the rails? Well, let's take a look at the last time Monkeypox came to 🇺🇸
1/ WHAT HIV/AIDS SHOULD HAVE TAUGHT US ABOUT COVID
The initial [seroconversion] illness with HIV is generally non-existent or a relatively mild flu-like illness. To begin with, it wasn't recognised at all and was only identified many years later in retrospect.
The "experts" who spent 2.5 years telling us that we didn't need to do anything because COVID was under control are now telling us that we can't do anything because COVID is out of control.
@LauraMiers We’re all isolated at home. They’re indoor-only. Air purifier running on high. Long sleeves and pants, gloves, lots of hand sanitizer when not gloved.
Anything that comes into the house (no-contact grocery delivery) gets wiped down. I’m really hoping they don’t have it. 🥺
@LauraMiers They also say wear a N95 respirator if taking care of pets w/ MPX or if you have MPX and are taking care of pets.
Been masked 24/7 except to eat/shower ever since I suspected MPX. Cats were sneezing when my first symptoms started. 1 week before I realized I might have it
@LauraMiers I was swabbed… 9 days and nada. My doc tried calling several times, no results. Wed, I got a stabbing pain in my eye. More pain again today. My doc tried to refer me. No ophthalmologist will see me b/c I’m a potential MPX case. Even though we know MPX can cause blindness 🙃
