Whatever you may think of Nicola Willis' ability to loudly debate a few talking points and invent wild hypothetical stories about the state of the imaginary books with her finger of blame, conjuring up hypotheticals about had Labour still been in power, it has to be admitted by everyone that those Supermarkets are still charging like wounded bulls in a cost of living crisis made worse by her focus on cost cutting.

Cost cutting has not put food on the table.

Now the costs of living is only set to get worse thanks to Trump and Netanyahu along with Willis' effective protection of her former Board Director colleagues at the NZ Initiative.

Lay out what you get on the kitchen bench for $200 these days and it does not add up to much.

Shoppers spit on the ground when they see it. Is that all I get for may hard earned money after tax and GST and ACC is taken?

Many are paying over 20% more if not double for the same food goods now that they were only a few years ago.

Food banks are overwhelmed with the new surge in demand under Willis after a spike in food price inflation that declined under Labour in 2023 but Willis managed to inflate again in 2024 and 2025.

Cutting funds across the Public Service, moving around the deck chairs and weakening the back room support, claiming she has made theoretical savings, performing studies on the supermarket duopoly, seeking more competition, none of these actions by Willis has meant you walk out of a supermarket with a trolley full of groceries that cost relatively the same as they once did compared to your income.

Things have not improved despite all that loud screeching talk from the chalk swallowed throat of the Finance Minister.

Putting food on the table is harder with Willis as Finance Minister.

Cuts and moving the deck chairs around and dancing around introducing competition has been a FAIL.

During the pandemic the rate of food inflation was higher than it is today but there was very good reason for that, which had to do with the Ukraine War, petrol prices, the price of fertiliser, supply chain issues all of which saw food prices spike and then fall back to more normal levels.

Labour put in place a Groceries Commissioner but more had to be done and National have not done it.

At the same time Supermarkets are swimming in money bins with record profits of over $1 Million per day. But Willis is useless from a shopper's experience. She has not helped make one cent of savings for us at the check out counter.

We can't eat her ghost groceries so we skip meals.

Nicola's other close colleagues at the NZ Initiative are the Gentailers who have also ratcheted up the power bills for the same people looking at the horrendous price of basic essential food.

Mates around the Board Room Table, the Gentailers are creaming the big profits these days after semi privatisation took away affordability for this essential public utility.

Dead slow to invest in renewables over the past decade and still playing catch up, the Gentailers profits are obscene with Forsyth Barr recently estimating a $1.86 billion combined operating profit as people pay through the nose and it's windfall profit time.

Forsyth Barr is also around the Board Room Table at the NZ Initiative as the tight network of aligned interest suck the meagre wealth out of the public for essentials and former colleague. Nicola Willis controls the
