claim ETH & ROBIN on Robinhood chain with nothing taken on the way out, zero fee and zero rounding step, because a rounding error is a tax nobody named $WIKO
Wikoles is a claim desk on @RobinhoodApp
$WIKO Ca :

you are shown what a claim will pay, you claim it, and the two are the same number
because they are the same subtraction of the same two bigints

we planted 7 bugs in our own maths to check the tests would actually catch them
6 failed the way they were supposed to
number 7 passed, and it really should not have
our fuzzer was generating amounts where the value being tested came out zero almost every time, and the only thing we asserted about it was that it sat inside a range
fixed both, ran it again, it now fails 7,799 times
a test that cannot fail is not evidence of anything
a claim pool has to add up to exactly what it holds
not within a wei, exactly
one unit short and that unit can never be claimed by anybody ever again, one unit over and the last person to show up gets a revert instead of their money
so the check is a hard equality
a one unit tolerance is the exact thing that sounds harmless
we ran the tidied version against our own claim rounds to see what it would have kept
29,841 claims
55 ETH
and it took something from 99.9% of them
we expected it to bite sometimes, it bites nearly always
a few people asked why we keep calling rounding a tax, so
say a claim owes you 1,239 and the payout gets tidied down to whole hundredths
you get 1,230
nobody took 9 from you, there is no fee line, no percentage written anywhere, and nothing in any doc mentions it
it just stays in the contract
that is a fee with better manners, and it is why there is no rounding anywhere in ours, not even for the display
wikoles is up
claim your ETH and ROBIN on RobinhoodApp chain, and nothing comes off on the way out
the fee is zero and the rounding step is zero
those are two different promises, and most places only ever make the first one
