Here's what happened.

Kyle Plush was a student at The Seven Hills School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was reaching for his tennis gear in the back of his 2004 Honda Odyssey when the third-row seat collapsed on him and pinned him down. He managed to call 911 twice by voice-activating his iPhone, but the police and the operators failed to locate him and rescue him in time. He died of asphyxiation from his chest being compressed. His father found his body around 9 p.m. in a parking lot near his school, nearly six hours after his first 911 call.

His family sued the city for wrongful death and received a $6 million settlement in April 20214. They also secured a civic commitment to improve the 911 call center and public safety. Kyle was remembered as a positive person who embraced life with passion.
