One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days!

Wow!

What a thing to claim!

And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it.

Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄

Yusuf begins with an extreme individual case - a prolific foreign offender, a horrific lmutder and what came before that. Yusuf uses this for establishing anger and injustice as the emotional frame.
He then moves to shoplifting generally, although most unresolved shoplifting has nothing demonstrated to do with foreign offenders or asylum seekers.
He then moves from there to foreign national offenders, a different population again.
Finally he introduces more than a million foreign nationals receiving Universal Credit, an enormously broader group, most of whom are not being alleged to be criminals or asylum seekers at all.
Yet the emotional association established at the beginning - foreign criminal, public expense, system failure - accompanies the reader through the entire sequence.
"And you're paying for it" personalises the grievance, while with the question"Do you think this is fair?" Yusuf directs the emotional conclusion.

So, in my view, there is a lot wrong with the framing and it matters.
It matters because public opinion is being manipulated, and society becomes a more and more polarised mess.

I fully understand why you feel aggrieved. Equalising the pension age for women and men may have been reasonable in principle, but many women reached that point after working lives marked by lower pay, unpaid caring responsibilities, part-time employment and fewer opportunities to build private pensions.
Your strongest case is therefore not about what anyone else receives. It is that government should properly consider the cumulative disadvantages experienced by women whose expected retirement age was raised, and the hardship caused by requiring some to continue until 67.

Henry is no longer allowed simply to be Henry - a young man who was murdered, whose final treatment was horrifying, and whose family must live with the loss. He becomes a symbol, an argument, a weapon. His humanity is retained only where it increases the emotional force of the political message.

Can you demonstrate - with reference to the actual policies - why Reform’s proposals would make women “far safer” than Labour’s?
When presenting Reform’s proposed replacement for the Equality Act, why did you mention only the additional provisions? What existing protections might women lose if the Act were repealed?

Richard, when you say the Bank of England should “stop Quantitative Tightening now”, do you mean it should stop actively selling gilts but continue allowing its holdings to mature, or do you mean QT should stop altogether? And how much of the taxpayer loss you cite would actually be avoided by your proposal?
