The Wilberforce Project (TWP) is an Alberta based non-profit organization that works to defend the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

1. Canada has no law restricting abortion at any gestational stage, including the third trimester.

2. During the third trimester, terminating the life of a pre-born child is never medically required to end a pregnancy.

3. Inducing labour or performing a C-section is a safe, viable, and ethical way to end a high-risk pregnancy while preserving both lives.

Denying legal protection to a third-trimester baby is discrimination based entirely on location, raising the fundamental question of why a viable child's rights depend on where they are located.

What is the unborn child? If the child in the womb is merely a collection of cells with no human value or personhood, then abortion requires little explanation. But if that child is a human being, an individual member of our human family, then the circumstances surrounding his or her existence cannot determine whether that life deserves protection.

An unplanned pregnancy does not make a child less human. Poverty does not make a child less valuable. Disability does not make a child less worthy of life. And difficult circumstances do not change what someone is. We would never argue that another human being loses their fundamental worth because their existence is unexpected, inconvenient, or challenging. Why should the location, size, level of development, or dependence of a human being determine whether that person deserves protection?
