It’s quite simple, he needs to be the Phillies starting centerfielder at the start of the 2027 season.

He has the worst DRS among all qualified shortstops since joining the club in 2023.

Two options the Phillies could explore this season:

- Bryson Stott and Trea swap positions. I do not think this is a strong option for the long term as Stott is one of the best defensive 2Bs in all of baseball and I think his bat profile is more suitable for a 2nd baseman.

- You just throw Trea in centerfield now and give him two months to get his feet under himself before the postseason. In turn, you make Edmundo Sosa the everyday SS.

Regardless, this Trea Turner contract is a disaster.

We still have holes that need to be addressed, but if you would have told me 2 months ago this team would 10 games above .500 a month before the trade deadline I would have said you are out of your damn mind.

Something to monitor moving forward is having Andrew Painter and Aaron Nola continuing to pitch in back to back games.

It puts an insane amount of pressure on the bullpen when the starting pitching is only getting through 4-5 innings in back to back games.

Phillies are 2-1 so far on the mini road trip. Let’s see if they can win another series and come back 4-2 or 5-1.

Kevin Willard absolutely crushed the portal and should be in prime position to be ranked heading into the season.

Notable additions include: Kwame Evans Jr., Devin Royal, and Luigi Suigo. Adding that to Tyler Perkins and Matthew Hodge (Once back from injury) is a really quality starting 5.

On another note, Suigo’s first game as a Wildcat will be in Italy against Notre Dame.
