I was recently asked what inspired you to engage with children playing outdoors:
The pandemic changed everything. We were stopped going to playgroups and softplays and decided to meet up with each other outside instead. We love it so much better and notice the children do too.
A little peek at the Stay and Play adventures at Willow Den at The Falkirk Wheel today. More to come over the next few days!

It was good to find a use for the valentine's flowers - the children enjoyed mixing and crushing petals to make colourful pink potions and then bottled up their petal perfume.

Spinning swinging climbing bouncing - are so essential for child development.
It's not just physical development such as balance, motor skills, coordination and strength that benefit from these type of movements.
Occupational Therapists use these movements to aid children's nervous system to develop and mature. Children are amazing because they naturally enjoy these movements because their bodies crave that sensory fix to help their bodies with organising and functioning.

Our children love gathering together for a story. Today it was Goldilocks and the three bears with the opportunity to learn about the various bowl sizes. Children enjoyed making sandy porridge with their own choice of bowl and spoon on the outdoor wooden cooker
We fed the hungry ducks and swans some peas on a frosty day. We hid behind the tree to watch them and we enjoyed seeing them diving to get the peas from under water.

It was great to observe the children choosing to play together on this piece of equipment at the park.

Can you think of anything else?
@BonnyparkELC Hi just wondering if you have a calm corner for children to learn to use and escape to when they feel angry and frustrated? Especially useful for children with asn who don't cope in large numbers and noisy places.
The animal handling session at Briarlands Farm was brilliant. We learned lots of interesting facts about chickens, rabbits and Guinea Pigs. The children loved stroking the animals and feeding them. #animalhandling#guineapigs#rabbit#petcare
@Thrive_Outdoors@ScotChildmind@ELCScotGov Thank you very much for this opportunity #Thriveoutdoors . We're very happy to be on this journey to take our children outside more and we're enjoying the positivity of others encouraging us on!
Wintering is almost over - we have exciting plans for the future. We are relaunching a new outdoor childminding group called Wild Child Childminding Adventures
We are continuing with our group outdoor activities & are inviting other Forest Kindergarten Childminders to join too!
