@mightbeautistic We feel empathy quite strongly. We process it differently than neurotypicals. We share "I also-" stories to display our understanding and empathy of a situation. NTs make and expect a performative sympathy expression, and tell us "I also" stories are us trying to make it about us

the amount of times we went over stop, drop, and roll as a child in school made me think id be much more likely to catch on fire than I have in my life.

In reality, I've only ever lit myself on fire twice.
