How in Gods name does Cheneys endorsement mean that Harris supports military interventions like Iraq? Thats is so illogical. Remember it was Barack Obama that was against that war in 2002 when most Republicans supported that war! That was your war, GOP, not the Democratic Party’s.

Is Russia a Threat to NATO?

The answer is: Russia is not an immediate threat because Ukraine has chosen to fight them. If Ukraine had welcomed Russia, as Putin expected, and joined forces, EU politicians would be changing their diapers by now.

The increase in russian defense spending indicates that russia is expecting a war that will last beyond next year, the head of Estonia's military intelligence service said.

Military experts assume that the complete annexation of the Baltic states is not the number one threat scenario. The most likely scenario is an attempt to conquer a smaller territory in order to take thousands of people hostage. This would sow fear in societies and divide the NATO allies into several camps when it comes to the question of which military response should be considered proportionate.

Ben Hodges expresses the same. “I don't think russia has territorial ambitions beyond the borders of the Baltic states and possibly parts of Poland. Their real aim would be to destroy NATO: to show that the alliance and its members are not really prepared to come to the aid of any country. You can imagine a hypothetical scenario in which russian troops invade Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia, occupy part of it and then stop and ask: “Do you really want to start a nuclear war over this?” And if the answer is no, that would be the end of Article 5 of NATO,” claims Hodges.

I think this scenario is realistic. putin would brutally exploit the weaknesses of Western democracies: hesitation, fear of red lines, differing ideas, consideration for voters.
