Kentucky lost to 14-seed Oakland with the #1 recruiting class in 2023, having the number 1 overall point guard, #1 small forward, and #1 center.
They also had TWO top-10 draft picks on the bench.
Recruiting — with no postseason success — is exactly why we “ran him out of town.”
@wildcatwoody001 Man this program has been through everything, I’m keeping my mouth shut until November. Kentucky doesn’t have “downfalls”, we’re unavoidable historically. Clock is ticking in many ways.
@brycejallday What prompts you dorks to tweet about Kentucky around the clock?
Tennessee, Louisville & Arky in that order. Obsessed beyond belief. Go actually win something.
@CoacJimmyDykes Just a gentle reminder that Tubby Smith won as many titles at Kentucky as Calipari.
Name another program that has won a title with five different coaches. Clock is ticking.
@MattSakR2NG@WildcatsTongue Pope has to be gone next season. Regardless of the spotlight, all signs point to him being a stepping stone for this program.
@Phelps1183@bigbluekodakk@AllUKBall_HPS As to your other question, in the current landscape I have no clue who Kentucky would target.
I can guarantee nearly any other top coach would be taken MUCH more seriously than Mark Pope.
@Phelps1183@bigbluekodakk@AllUKBall_HPS Take a look at how Pope’s recruiting is going. While much of my option is speculative, it’s also grounded in Popes past/present performance.
I love this program, do I hope I’m irrefutably wrong? Absolutely.
@bigbluekodakk@AllUKBall_HPS Mark Pope will not win a title here.
Sweet sixteen (generous ceiling) next season. Realistically, another embarrassing pre-con and inconsistent con performance.
If I’m right, Pope needs to go. Stepping stone, go get a top 10 coach for the love of everything.
