@SocStuTchr They don't study it in school like we do in America. Remember they don't celebrate the 4th of July. Hamilton opened on the West End and the British people did not get why George III was portrayed like a silly buffoon.
A-6 Our students are successful. However, they learn to understand they do not need their parents to help them complete homework. it is ok to make mistakes we learn best when we do. I teach them I want their original work. Mistakes are good!

A-8 After raising 3 girls all educated at the same school. I feel homework is essential. They have said, as their friends, we were prepared for higher learning. We knew what we had to do,we had the drive to do it. They compared their peers, having no clue how to study, etc.
A-8 I don't believe in HW surprises. It should be reinforcement or a continuation of what is discussed in class. I believe at a certain age if homework can't be given so that it can be done independently it shouldn't be given.
A-7 I need to be mindful that there are glitches in technology. However it is helpful for the students that forget work. They can access it on-line. I find it easier to edit student's writing, they can look at the edits at home. The
Socrative app is helpful for test prep.
A-5 I love to assign a popular non-fiction news magazine for homework. The students love to come in and discuss the current events they have read and evaluate the comprehension questions they have answered. Why they got a question correct or why they didn't. #AobEDChat
A-4 For my grade level I would prefer to discuss the essential question in class or have the class complete a formative assessment in school. At home students often ask for help.
I use homework as a reinforcement of a concept taught that day.
I usually do not grade homework. My students also are required to read at home every night. They submit a reading response letter every few weeks to be accountable for what they are reading. I love reading the them.
