Today, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it is no longer recommending the closure of three on-call fire stations.
This is a major step forward, and we'll continue working with the Service to secure improvements for their firefighters.
Consultations on potential station closures are ongoing in other counties, and we're committed to ensuring your voice is fairly represented.

We welcome Oxfordshire’s decision to withdraw plans to close fire stations in Woodstock, Eynsham and Henley.
This is a huge relief for local communities and firefighters.
However, a proper consultation should offer real alternatives and serious questions remain:
❓ Why did the consultation only present closure as an option?
❓ Why weren’t solutions to improve recruitment and retention explored sooner?
This isn’t an isolated issue, we’re seeing the same pattern in Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, and Dorset & Wiltshire.
In Dorset & Wiltshire, plans to close eight fire stations are still on the table, and we continue to strongly oppose them.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign so far, we will keep fighting to protect firefighter jobs and keep fire stations open.

Dorset: 'Call to 'be vigilant' on heathlands during alert.' By the way they are threating to savage firefighting capacity locally, but let's not go into that.
