@MsTikq@sotirissays@TansuYegen All I am saying is that socialism tempered by democracy benefits people. I am not advocating for a return to Cold War communism. And while saying that is what I mean makes it easier for you to argue: it is dishonest: because it is evident that is not what I am saying.
@MsTikq@sotirissays@TansuYegen I live in Norway and I teach social studies and history. Our welfare system is based on socialist ideas. Healthcare is free. Education is free. We have a ‘cradle to grave’ welfare system that works. Socialism that does not rely on dictatorship works.
@sotirissays@TansuYegen I am Norwegian and I teach social studies and history. And I too have a master’s degree. But do go on telling me how I live in a prison.
@MsTikq@sotirissays@TansuYegen They are social democracies: with policies Americans reject as socialism, such as free education and free healthcare. Communism and market economies are opposites, not market economies and socialism.
@oldenoughtosay Shedding light on these challenges are so important. - Remember a friend in high school being in so much pain, and with absolutely no offer of a solution from anyone. At least people know more today.
@realJewishGuy@adamhembrow1 Words do matter and unnecessarily harsh feedback to people who do important work can lead to them not continuing. - Also, nobody is confused into thinking ‘perished’ means the nazis were not entirely to blame.
@buitengebieden In the period before we realised our dog was sick we noticed he had begun to sit and stare at the sea. When we took him to the vet he was diagnosed with heart problems and had to be put to sleep.
@KateBurkeNHS With a friend I met a friendly American man on the train to go visit a palace outside of London. He suggested we share a horse drawn carriage from the station. We politely declined. We didn’t overhear, but from the look in his girlfriend’s eyes, he was in for a scolding😃
