Often I ask myself what more I can do with this so called fame. How can it help or aid society. It has to be bigger than me. Yes , charity or being charitable build a reputation but a genuine long lasting impact is greater than being loved or respected.

“Chinese manufacturing in Zimbabwe is broader than just mining and steel. Sino-Zimbabwe Cement has been operating since 2001 in Gweru and was running at 90% utilisation as recently as 2022. Chinese investment is also supporting local production of cement, bricks, porcelain tiles, ceramic tableware, school shoes, gumboots and other manufactured products that are supplying domestic and regional markets.” – Carrie Li, Executive Chairperson Zimbabwe Chinese Business Association

Prof. dr. Amon Murwira, who is leading the Zimbabwean delegation campaigning for the country’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, attended a campaign event in New York hosted by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. This Central Asian nation is also vying for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council.
The occasion reflected growing diplomatic solidarity and cooperation between Zimbabwe and Kyrgyzstan within the multilateral arena.
As Zimbabwe continues to engage with nations on international platforms, this demonstration of solidarity in New York symbolizes mutual respect, strengthens diplomatic collaboration, and reflects a shared commitment to inclusive global governance and lasting peace and security.
The United Nations advocates conflict prevention, preventive diplomacy, and bridge-building as key tools for promoting global peace.
If elected to the United Nations Security Council, Zimbabwe will work closely with other elected members to advance international peace and security through preventive diplomacy, the peaceful settlement of disputes, and inclusive global governance anchored in the United Nations Charter.
Sad to say that my time in 🇿🇼 is coming to an end. 😢
So many amazing memories over 8 years , spanning 4 decades, as a teacher, an NGO worker, a tourist and recently as British Ambassador.
Allow me to use each of my last days here to reflect and say thank you….

As the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, I carry the responsibility of protecting, empowering and guiding our young people with the seriousness and integrity the office demands.
The issue of drugs, substance abuse and drug peddling is deeply painful and disturbing because it continues to destroy the lives, dreams and futures of many young people across our communities. As a parent, a leader and a Christian, I will never tolerate criminal behaviour or anything that threatens the well-being of our children.
It is therefore heartbreaking to witness reckless and false narratives being spread without evidence, especially on matters as sensitive as this. False accusations do not only damage reputations, but they also weaken society’s collective fight against the real dangers affecting our youth.
If anyone has credible evidence regarding any wrongdoing, I encourage them to come forward through the proper channels so that the law can take its course. We cannot build our nation on rumours, hatred, malicious attacks and character assassination disguised as public concern.
Let us remember that public opinion is not always the truth. Words can destroy families, reputations and lives. As Zimbabweans, let us choose responsibility, honesty, compassion and unity over reckless accusations that divide and harm one another.
Together, we can build a stronger nation when we choose responsibility over recklessness, respect over hatred and truth over falsehood.
As a father, I believe one of the greatest responsibilities of a man is to honour and appreciate the woman who carries and nurtures the children that become part of his family. In doing so, respect for her family becomes a true reflection of one’s character, maturity and values.
As Minister of Youth, I wish to encourage our young citizens to embrace a culture of respect, dignity and restraint, particularly in moments of disagreement or personal conflict. True leadership is not demonstrated through intimidation, abuse of authority or the misuse of influence against others, especially women and the elderly.
No grievance, misunderstanding or separation should ever justify the use of power, money or office to suppress, intimidate or humiliate another family. Our children learn more from our conduct than from our words, and I want mine to inherit a legacy founded on respect, integrity, peace and humanity.
Peace begins with me. Peace begins with you. Peace begins with all of us.
