🟥🇬🇷🇫🇷 Greece has officially received its second FDI HN frigate, HS Nearchos (F602), delivered by France's Naval Group in Lorient on October 30. The vessel joins the Hellenic Navy in the upgraded Belharra Standard 2 configuration.
Measuring 122 metres and displacing approximately 4,500 tonnes, Nearchos can reach 27 knots. Its compact, heavily automated design combines substantial firepower with modern naval surveillance capabilities.
The frigate features Thales' Sea Fire AESA radar, providing 360-degree coverage through four fixed antenna panels. Kingklip Mk2 and CAPTAS-4 Compact sonars strengthen its anti-submarine capabilities.
Its armament includes Aster 30 air-defence missiles, eight Exocet MM40 Block 3C anti-ship missiles, a 76mm naval gun and MU90 torpedoes, complemented by the RAM close-in defence system.
The Standard 2 configuration expands the ship's air-defence capabilities with additional Sylver A50 launchers and improved defensive systems. Further modernisation to Standard 2++ is planned before the end of the decade.
Nearchos is a serious and technologically advanced warship, particularly strong in air defence and submarine detection.
Its capabilities represent a substantial improvement for the Greek fleet, although acquisition costs and long-term maintenance remain important considerations.

"In the region of Maine, there was a brave knight who had a reputation for courage, and even boldness, inflicting heavy losses upon the English."
The Legacy of Agincourt: Ambroise de Loré, Defender of the Maine
The third son of a family from the minor nobility of Maine, he became a squire at the age of fourteen. In 1415, at nineteen, he regained consciousness in the mud at Agincourt, surrounded by the corpses of his comrades, and managed to escape.
After successfully spiriting the Dauphin, Charles of France, away in the dead of night, having defended the bridge at Charenton on May 29, 1418, he spent years waging a campaign of harassment, guerrila and resistance against the English throughout Maine, Anjou, and Normandy. This included seizing fortresses under the cover of darkness, harrying garrisons. He led the advance guard at Bernay in 1422, where the chronicler Jean Chartier calls the captains “magnanimous champions”. In 1423, he raised an army of local lords by answering the call to arms of Duchess Yolande of Aragon and defeated a whole English army at La Brossinière. The common people dubbed him the "Defender of Maine," and the Earl of Salisbury regarded him as an equal.
He defeated John Fastolf at Ambrières in 1427, fought alongside Joan of Arc at Orléans and Patay, and once lifed the siege of Lagny. On one occasion, when his army captured hundreds of women, children, and peasants near Caen, he set them free rather than treating them as spoils of war.
Marshal to the Duke of Alençon in 1432, then Provost of Paris after the city was recaptured in 1436, he died in office in 1446, aged fifty.
From an unknown figure to a formidable, imposing knight in the eyes of the invaders, what truly set him apart from the warriors of his period was his great loyalty to his cause of protecting his native land and France but after all his King, and his commitment to sparing the civilian population from harm. Agincourt transformed him forever, as he fought in the shadows just as he did in the light.
I want to pay tribute to this underrated character, whom I am studying with this artistic project of my great friend artist @GerrorForSe . The reason his name and story have been largely forgotten comes down to a single detail: at one point during his military career, he served for a brief period under the lord Gilles de Rais, one of the Middle Ages' first serial killers. Consequently, Ambroise de Loré was unfairly singled out by certain chroniclers. His memory was honored in the XXth century, although a project to erect statues of him at the sites of his battles was ultimately abandoned due to a lack of funds.
Today, commemorative plaques bearing his nickname, "Defender of Maine" are displayed at these locations to recall his feats.

🇷🇺 A Tornado-S crew from Group "North" struck Ukrainian military infrastructure in Kharkov Oblast, destroying an ammunition depot and a logistics hub in a single fire mission.
The strike brought Russian long-range rocket artillery to bear against two critical rear-area targets, hitting both stored munitions and the transport network supporting enemy operations.
The Tornado-S is a modern 300mm multiple launch rocket system designed for high-precision strikes at extended range, giving Russian forces the ability to engage valuable targets deep behind the line.
By targeting logistics as well as ammunition storage, the operation disrupted both the supply of materiel and the organisation of further deliveries in the sector.
This latest strike highlights the firepower and reach of Group "North", with the Tornado-S once again proving its value as a system built not only to destroy, but to unravel the enemy's support structure.

🇷🇺 A Russian military aircraft greets the first light of dawn, climbing into the morning sky as a new day begins.
Its twin engines provide the thrust required for takeoff, while its aerodynamic design ensures stability and manoeuvrability in flight.
Behind every departure stands the work of ground crews, responsible for maintenance, technical inspections and aircraft preparation.
For the pilot, the ascent demands precision, concentration and mastery of a sophisticated machine operating at high speed.
Against the blue morning horizon, the aircraft offers a magnificent display of Russian aviation engineering, where power and elegance meet in the sky.

Hey @grok, some years ago 43 students in Mexico vanished out of the blue all together without leaving any trace.
international investigators challenging the narrative account were suddenly targeted with Pegasus spyware from Israel.
Even the missing students’ parents and lawyers appeared on the list of Israel’s spyware targets.
Then came another disturbing revelation.
Mexico’s former chief investigator, accused of manipulating evidence in the case, fled to Israel.
Mexico never managed to extradite him and they accused Israel of effectively protecting him.

The Bloody Second Punic War 207 BC
One of the greatest wars of the Classical Age was entering its final stage between Carthage and Rome in the Western Mediterranean. It is good to take stock and count the cost of the war that kicked off in 218 BC. The figures below can't be precise; they are estimates that will give both a strategic view of the war and its cost.
The Spanish/Iberian Theater: Roughly 35,000 to 40,000 Romans had died since 217 BC, and that is missing some Iberian casualties from Roman Allies.
Carthage had lost at least 40,000 men in the same amount of time, and likely many more Iberian allies in the various wars between Punic and Roman-allied tribes.
Naval Operations in Italy and Africa: We don't know but we do know that Rome got the better of most of them. If we guess around 8,000 Roman sailors and soldiers lost and 10 to 16000 Carthaginians, we probably have a sense of the scale of it at least.
Sicilian Theater: Carthage wanted Sicily back, and figures are hard here, especially for the Romans because of the high level of desertions be we will venture a guess. Rome by 207 BC likely lost between 15 and 20,000 men.
Carthage had lost 30 to 45,000 men, not counting the independent Greeks.
Sardinia: Likely around 8,000 men for the Romans and 18 to 24,000 for the Carthaginians and the Sardinian rebels.
Italian Theater: Skirmishes when Hannibal first invaded; 25,000 Rome dead at Trebia, 16,000 at Trasimene and aftermath, 25,000 at the Battle of Silva Litana, a victory of the Gauls, and 70,000 dead or sold into slavery at Cannae. After Cannae, just trying to contain Hannibal with Fabian tactics cost Rome at least 50,000 men over 8 years. That is 186,000 killed in Italy 95,000 men in 216 alone!
The Romans lost in all other theaters combined 72,000.
Hannibal lost likely in the neighborhood of 10,000 men invading Italy and maybe as few as 25,000, at least half of which were Greek and Gaulish allies, if not more, in the course of his battle with Rome. So roughly 35,000 men over 11 years. Hannibal forces killed Romans 5 to 1 in direct battle with the Romans; it was more like 7 to 1.
In all other theaters combined, Carthage had lost: 125,000 men.
To sum up this massive cost. Rome in 11 years of War may have lost as many as: 258,000 men. Untold numbers of wounded and maimed.
Carthage had lost in 11 years about 160,000 men.
As the war entered its final phase, the butcher's bill would only grow.
Suetonius wrote that as Caesar saw ‘a statue of Alexander the Great in the temple of Hercules, he sighed deeply, as if weary of his sluggish life, for having performed no memorable actions at an age 21 at which Alexander had already conquered the world.’
