@SnakeyBoy047@skywaker9 It isn't just current......I grew up in Eugene, but went to Jr college in Pendleton. The anger in Eastern Oregon in the early 90s about how they weren't represented in Salem and the state was doing things that were detrimental to their way of life was palpable 35 years ago
@SnwflakeDetectr@cyhiphopp Also, I do read, regularly, and big economy doesn't always mean healthy economy. The British Empire was big but certainly not healthy economically at its end
@SnwflakeDetectr@cyhiphopp I live among the farmers, I have seen some of them lose their farms and others adapt to the regulation, but that doesn't mean that California doesn't makes it much harder for farmers to succeed than some other states. This is true even when California's economy is big.
@GuntherEagleman Wouldn't this be Ford? Agnew was Nixon's VP when he was elected, and Agnew had resigned before Nixon did during all the Watergate investigation. I feel pretty confident that this is correct
@MattWalshBlog I am distantly related to President James Garfield....his battle at Middle Creek, where he was spot promoted to General after an unlikely victory when outnumbered, directly led to his political career. His life is another story that would make an excellent movie
@MattWalshBlog Aslo, Bill Whittle's series about the Cold War, Apollo Missions, and Behind the Iron Curtain were all terrific. I thought his cold war episode about the Korean War was particularly good. If I was a history teacher instead of science, I would use some of these in class
@MattWalshBlog I began to research my family history when my wife was pregnant with my oldest daughter in 1999. I have written several novella/long short stories based on events that happened in my family. I used to tell the kids some of these as bedtime stories.
@Fair_and_Biased The boomers coined a phrase in the 60s to never trust anyone over 30. What we see now is a society where that is our cultural norm. I love many boomers, including my parents, but as a generation, they took the traumas that all people face and turned it into horrific policy
@nosoup4knowles So I understand anonymity, as far as I know, no one local knows I am on X, and this is where I talk politics, but being a very conservative teacher in a very blue state, I am risking my job whenever I speak publicly about politics
@nosoup4knowles I have a picture of my cat on here because in 2019 when I said on facebook I hoped my school could have a normal graduation next year, someone cut/pasted it and sent it to my principal and my job as a teacher was threatened because I was "putting us all at risk" questioning covid
@JeremyDBoreing I would love to see a series developed from this monologue on the history of American wars, why they were fought, how they were justified, their sacrifices and the long-term consequences of them. The stories of history need to be told accurately
@JeremyDBoreing I am glad you are doing this….as a Naval CTI (admittedly low level) the lies told about our intelligence going into Iraq drive me crazy…..from WWI to Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan we fought wars with noble intentions and dismissing those as “Wars of choice” is wrong
@M0rseM00se@politicalsteam I hope time will heal that relationship, I greatly enjoy and admire the work they both do…..as a middle school teacher, I see relationships end and recover often…..Grace and forgiveness are powerful
