A genuinely inspirational few days in lovely Dublin for the 'Restoring Hope' conference. Lots and lots of people doing amazing things - and lots more still to be achieved and explored. Thanks to everyone involved.
We're really excited to launch this today - after lots of work, this collaborative effort between @ClassClin and @UK_ACP is something that we've been thinking about for ages. We hope it will spark useful conversations!

Episode 6 of the #ClassClinPsych podcast is out now! We chat to Rosie Bridge, Trainee Clinical Psychologist. Put simply, she did a great job of highlighting the strengths of being a clinical psychologist from a working class background.

A clinical trial has shown Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) improves quality of life for people with #MND#ALS, when used alongside existing care.
@mndassoc will help support psychologists to deliver ACT to people with MND.

So proud to be able to call @NickHartley a friend & delighted for Byker that they have made such a great choice. I'd love to see more psychologists be active in politics and their communities.
So delighted to see that someone who has shown their commitment to Byker by living with and working with the community is now their local councillor. It brings me hope that politics isn't just about parties; it's about people who will actually represent the voices of communities.
I want to say something to the people with mental health conditions that have got in touch with me worried / panicked about the govt news on possible benefits changes... NOTHING HAS HAPPENED.
- The govt has put out a green paper. That is an EARLY STAGE consultation document. After that may come a white paper.
- These things are not quick, if they happen, and this is a general election year - so whether it will happen at a question.
This type of debate is given attention to create political news and put clear water between parties in an election year.
Sadly doing that in the area of mental health, can have a real human impact, terrifying people about changes that may never happen
So if you're worried about it, while I know its easy to say and hard to do, forget it - for now it is still political hot air.
There is no such thing as “a sick note culture.” There is a record high NHS waiting list, crippling housing costs, widespread food poverty, stagnant wages and inadequate benefit rates, a broken social care system, dire mental health services, and closed Sure Start centres.
Our online research with @LancsDClinPsy is looking for Adults (18+) with experiences of psychosis and/or hearing voices who have experienced suicidal thoughts in last 6 months.
