Another post from someone I love following on here highlighting another important aspect of the Americans race with Quinn Simmons who just missed out on a medal in 4th. I know I joked on here before on how Simmons and McNulty don’t like each other because of Montreal last year and this year but you couldn’t have done what they did as a team without respect and effort for one another! 🇺🇸🤝🇺🇸
I had to log off right after the race but this is a fantastic post/thread from @aziiaziizam as Jorgenson was incredible today as he mentions. TEAM 🇺🇸 indeed!
🌈🌈"DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YES!"🇺🇸🇺🇸
The words of the the great Al Michaels from the 1980 US/USSR olympic hockey game seem appropriate here as 🇺🇸Brandon McNulty does it! He takes the rainbow jersey off the shoulders of his teammate Tadej Pogacar!
Brandon McNulty, you are a WORLD CHAMPION!!!!
What a legendary day for American Cycling and I feel lucky to have been able to witness it!

🌈🔒The picks are locked...and sure to be wrong!❌
At this point, you've probably made your picks. Then changed them. Then changed them again. I know I have lol. But I'm sticking with my original podium:
🥇 Paul Seixas 🇫🇷
🥈 Mathieu van der Poel 🇳🇱
🥉 Isaac Del Toro 🇲🇽
I still think Seixas somehow pulls this off. I think MVDP is going to factor much more than some people are giving him credit for. I think Del Toro will ride hard for his fallen leader, but just won't quite have enough at the end. And then...
Remco rages out. Which leaves Wout wondering what exactly he's supposed to do with Remco raging out😂And for the Americans?
🇺🇸 Brandon McNulty
I think Quinn Simmons fights early. He's going to be aggressive because that's Quinn being Quinn. But when the race gets down to the business end, I think McNulty rides it with more strategy. He was 3rd here in Montréal. Maybe he does it again. Maybe this time, he gets the move right. And the real reason I think he will be the #1 US finisher....he dyed his hair blonde like Pog 😂
May it be a safe and exciting race - enjoy it everyone!

🇺🇸 One More Sleep Til Rainbows Are All Out 🌈
I missed most of the second half of the women’s race live today thanks to a high school cross country meet, but I was following along online as best I could. And it sounds like I missed quite a race!
🇺🇸 Natalie Quinn made a valiant effort out front, holding on until being caught with just under half the race to go, not long after, defending champion Magdeleine Vallieres crashed, effectively taking her out of the race. From there, the other favorites took over.
And what a finish. 🇳🇱 Demi Vollering caps an incredible season with the rainbow jersey, beating Kasia Niewiadoma to the line.
For Team USA, Kristin Faulkner was once again the top American, officially finishing 21st. She came in with a large group just behind the top 10 that included some pretty big names - Liane Lippert, Noemi Rüegg and Lotte Kopecky among them. Not a bad group to be riding with at the end of a World Championship.
Congrats to Demi, and congrats to everyone who made it one heck of a race. Now...
One more sleep until the men’s race 🇺🇸🌈

Even if you don't subscribe, you can read the first part of Daniel's article for free - and you should really check it out! Fascinating insight about Barry's ride.
"He knew the gap was closing, but rather than go into the red, he measured his effort to perfection, gliding up the climbs at the right tempo before letting his natural TT ability come to the fore on the descents and flatter sections."
🇺🇸 THE ELITE ARE READY: LADIES FIRST🌈
It's time for the Elite Women's Road Race. 180 KM (what's a KM?) and eight trips up Mount Royal.
I wrote about Team USA earlier this week, but now that we're here, I'm even more curious about how this race plays out.
Kristen Faulkner has the résumé. Kate Courtney might have the course. Lauren Stephens brings nine World Championships of experience. And Natalie Quinn, Alexis Magner and Grace Arlandson give the US some other cards to play.
For me, Top 10 feels like a realistic goal for the Americans as it has all week, but Ashlin Barry's win yesterday shows anything is possible (what's up Kevin Garnett 🍀🏀).
And then there's the rest of the world. My three riders to make the podium - although I'm not sure yet on the order:
🇳🇱 Puck Pieterse
🇨🇭 Noemi Rüegg
🇨🇦 Magdeleine Vallières Mill (defending champ!)
There are plenty of other names that could blow that prediction up of course - Vollering, Longo Borghini, Reusser, Kopecky, Niewiadoma and more. Soon enough we'll find out.
Another rainbow jersey on the line, ladies first! 🇺🇸🐺

Capping off an already incredible day 🇺🇸 Sophia Wellmeier snags the US another top 10 finish at the cycling World Championships with a 10th place in the Women’s Junior road race! 🐺🇺🇸💪

For the record I'm aware that Ashlin Barry has dual citizenship between Canada and America - and was born in Spain! I liken it to how Paul Magnier was born in Laredo, Texas but is obviously French, which is why I like to call him "Laredo Paul" and claim 1/4 of his victories as for America 🙃
Ashlin's mom was born in the same city as I was (Milwaukee, WI). No matter where he calls home, he chose to ride with the US team so I'm proud to call him one of our own understanding cyclists are really nomads and can have fans around the world. It's "dual" citizenship, not "duel" citizenship 😂
Here's a good article from @cyclingweekly about it: https://t.co/iVtC7QlaBJ
🇺🇸 ASHLIN BARRY JUST WON THE MEN'S U23 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP🌈
I’m not even sure where to start with this one🤯This morning I wrote about how strange it is to watch 18-year-old Enzo Hincapie race the Junior Men's race and then realize Ashlin Barry - 19 today - was racing the U23 field. Now Barry is a World Champion!
He spent the closing kilometers out front, and somehow the American stayed there all the way to the line. What a ride! 🇺🇸🐺💪
The reigning US Men's U23 road champion. 4th in the Men's U23 time trial here in Montréal. And now:
🇺🇸🌈MEN'S U23 WORLD CHAMPION🇺🇸🌈
I've posted my thoughts about wishing pro athletes happy birthday here but this feels like an exception lol:
Happy Birthday to U23 WORLD CHAMPION ASHLIN BARRY! 🥳🌈
