@Steven_J_VA@NoLimitGains I'd be more likely just to buy stock as a donation to SpaceX. Not an investment. For people who love Elon's visions, that seems more intellectually honest.
@Steven_J_VA@NoLimitGains Consider Super Heavy has only launched 12 times since 2018. There is very little demand for huge payloads.
Elon has to create real $ demand for Starship which doesn't exist currently. Can he pull this rabbit out of the hat? I guess we may find out. That's what Im keying on
@Steven_J_VA@NoLimitGains The argument is if you don't try it, you'll never know if you can.
That's pretty much how all discoveries have happened.
The other draw for a moonbase, in Elon's words is the first step to Mars.
None of this makes the moonbase profitable. Maybe. But not yet from my wallet.
@japan_nobunaga BS. When I see a lion, my first reaction is to NOT judge it by it's action. Take that chance and you may be dead.
This is just stupid virtue-signalling.
@nipplenfts@JKLivinLife@heyitspixel69 No $hit Sherlock. Profit means the company grows. Revenue without profit just means it's the gov or a 501c.
dip$hit
@nipplenfts@JKLivinLife@heyitspixel69 Because....
SPCX has not made a profit yet.
Hasn't life taught you anything about fundamentals. They are real bro and brings everyone back to reality eventually.
@JKLivinLife@heyitspixel69 Still not donating my money to SpaceX until some reasonable path exists to Starship profitability which does not exist today.
@PoofXyzzy@heyitspixel69 Even at $100/kg...does that make starship profitable?
This is the million $ question.
The Falcon heavy has only launched 12 times in 8 years.
There is very small demand for high payload launches.
@andrewfibonacci@cliftonaduncan All you cloud-chasers need to state is exactly how Elon makes Starship profitable. And defend those points clearly and with some reasonable math.
You can't....and you won't.
Pie in the sky hopes. Good luck
@cliftonaduncan Noted you said "if he succeeds". Not, "when he succeeds".
Even you, the most intelligent ahole here, admits there is risk in Elon's ventures. It's not a sure thing...which is reasonable and does not mean we "hate" the guy.
Get wrecked.
@Steven_J_VA@NoLimitGains rare earth minerals must be refined from aggregate. They'd send a metric ton of aggregate to get back grams of minerals. Too expensive.
All this said to say that the profitability roadmap for Starship is highly dubious within even a decade.
@Steven_J_VA@NoLimitGains It's not the mining that's the problem. It's the refining. They won't be sending raw aggregate back to earth. it must be refined/milled. That takes water. Lots of water.
If they can mill aggregate without water, that would revolutionize milling on earth.
Nope. Wont happen
