@AmiraPa30301412@PsychinOut@NextGenPsych Thank you so much for sharing this! I would love to feature this information on my Careers in Psychology, PsyVocational Blog if you’re interested! https://t.co/hxaEGiAwtv
@raulpacheco I take breaks. If I can, I love to chat with someone else about the data and talk through some of my thoughts. But taking walks or disengaging by reading/watching something for fun helps too.
@sebrina_doyle @OpenAcademics@AcademicChatter@gerryletendre I just use Microsoft Office. Code transcripts in Word using the comment function and organize codes in Excel. It’s nice for making pivot tables for frequency counts of codes/themes. Although I generally calculate Cohen’s Kappa in SPSS, but there are free calculators online.
@AdanBecerraPhD @ajordannafa@PhDemetri@camjpatrick Maybe this could be a compromise with your collaborators? In addition to some of the great articles shared?
@AdanBecerraPhD @ajordannafa@PhDemetri@camjpatrick I generally run the analyses with and without, reporting the results with outliers included, but noting they remained the same if removed. Although I recently had a dataset where one outlier was removed due to undue influence on kurtosis statistics (~28 with and <1 without).
@Sakiera_Hudson I am not looking for specific skills since I am happy to train students to learn the skills they need, but I am looking for the following qualities: eager to learn, passionate about social justice, supportive, dependable, and able to work independently.
@heymrsbond My university has a required semester long teaching course for incoming faculty. They also do a ton of helpful programs and trainings that are optional, but I find them helpful. My grad program (in psych) also did in-depth training and mentoring in teaching.
Graduate school admissions question: what recommendations do you have for students to obtain letters of recommendation when they graduated 3-5 years ago and haven’t stayed in touch with their professors? #AcademicTwitter@AcademicChatter
@mspezz @KSchaferPhD JASP has worked really well for myself and my students, and can do things that SPSS can’t (confirmatory factor analysis, different effect sizes, etc.). But I prefer SPSS for data cleaning and management.
