When I offered my amendment to kill this slush fund, Republicans said we should accept Trump's word that it was dead. We knew they were wrong. This is why.
Even in the middle of an illegal war, with prices rising, Trump wants to send your tax dollars to criminals & save his sweetheart tax deal.
Today Rand Paul wants to force an 85-year-old Dr. Anthony Fauci to address the American people but refuses to ask the same of 84-year-old Mitch McConnell.
This is such a great video from @turek4iowa. Josh is one of the grittiest people you will ever meet. Check out his campaign and incredible story. Democrats have a historic opportunity to elect a bunch of great candidates in Iowa this year.
Petraeus: The death zone in Ukraine extends 35 kilometers on either side of the front lines — defined by drone battery life. Tanks can't survive. Armored vehicles can't survive. Nothing can.
Neither side even drives vehicles anymore. Russians keep trying and keep proving it.
Petraeus: No trenches — drones fly through. Soldiers in survivability positions hundreds of meters apart, not mutually supporting. Resupplied by ground robots.
Commanders can't visit the front line. Soldiers stay 60+ days. In urban areas, some couldn't be extracted for months.
Petraeus: Russian advances mean individual soldiers running forward trying to dig in. Drone units pick them up immediately, cycle surveillance drones, then FPV attack drones arrive.
You see them hitting around the soldier in the woods until one connects. It doesn't end well.
Petraeus: Ukraine is about to isolate Crimea. Gasoline so short they won't sell it to civilians. Tourists who came for beaches are trying to get home any way they can.
Kerch Bridge rail no longer works. Ferries knocked out. Land bridges destroyed. Pontoon bridges now targeted.
Petraeus: Ukraine took down Russia's air defenses steadily. Russia pulls them to Moscow — vulnerabilities open everywhere else. Moscow refinery hit three nights running, out at least six months.
They're going after fuel storage, refineries, gas lines from Siberia to the west.
Petraeus: Real prospect now that Putin might need a cessation of hostilities himself. Oil sanctions reimposed, national welfare fund running out of money.
Crimea isolated, front lines cut off, economy crushed — all of this could force Putin to recognize he should end this war.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear in new letter to Mitch McConnell:
"It has now been 43 days since news of your hospitalization. During that time you have cast zero votes, engaged in no official activities... I am calling on you to directly and verbally address the people of Kentucky and provide proof of your capacity to serve, or resign."
I want to make a point that is important here.
The US did not give many long range munitions to Ukraine. In fact probably not enough for one night of bombing Iran. I’ll outline exact details later.
This is an absolute red herring
Senate Republicans, this is the crap you pretend will not happen when Trump nominees sit in front of you and lie. And you know they are lying. The DHS secretary has NO role to play in our elections. You know that too.
“Mandatory” my ass!
Israeli settlers, brandishing American made M4s, detained me & other Americans on my trip to Palestine.
When the IDF arrived, they sided with the settlers & continued our detention.
They made a huge mistake.
You will be hearing more soon. https://t.co/rZw8bRAn64
All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members.
Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.
Graham Platner should obviously drop out and I think he will drop out, but jesus christ, men -- if you've raped, abused, or otherwise badly mistreated women or anyone in the past, can you please just sit out running for office? Even if you believe you've changed, maybe work on a campaign or help someone you believe in, but perhaps one cost of your bad behavior is that you don't get to hold a position of extraordinary power.
Platner needs to drop out ASAP - these are awful, credible allegations.
Said on the pod after the (also credible) June NYT story that his biggest problem going forward would be credibility. It's now abundantly clear that he just hasn't been honest about his past and can't be trusted as a candidate for office.
Saving grace is that the party can find a replacement by the 27th as long as he drops by the 13th, which I very much assume he will.
It’s important to understand that the Court is now just an arm of the oligarchy.
This decision strips the people of the right to limit the role of money in politics. It gives billionaires special rights to buy our elections. A precondition of oligarchy.
What happened here is simple. You lost a war you should have never started and surrendered on Iran's terms.
War opponents can be glad the war is over and also point out that this insane deal is a final proof point that the whole war - that you cheerled - was a total calamity.
Vice President Vance was on the show today to talk Iran.
The truth is simple: The leaked MOU lets Iran sell oil immediately, grants sanctions relief upfront, and dangles a $300 billion reconstruction fund before the hard nuclear issues are even negotiated.
Meanwhile, Iran keeps its program intact during a 60-day talks period. This deal shares language with the JCPOA and abandons Trump’s goals of the war.
This deal reopens a body of water that was open before the war and begins a nuclear negotiation far narrower than what Trump was seeking before the war. All at a staggering cost to the entire world while leaving an IRGC-led government that feels strengthened.
Donald Trump: " One of the worst deals ever made by Barack Hussein Obama. Remember when they sent Boeing 757s over there loaded with cash, hundreds of millions... Sent it to Iran almost as ransom. That's not gonna happen with Trump."
