Before this, I had already read most of the classic books on crypto and monetary theory:
The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean Ammous
Mastering Bitcoin and The Internet of Money by Andreas Antonopoulos
Crypto assets by Chris Burniske & Jack Tatar
Broken Money by Lyn Alden, and Digital Gold by Nathaniel Popper.
Each of them gave me a different lens. Some helped me understand the nature of money, some went deep into the technical side, some broke down the financial system, and others told the history of Bitcoin like a living story. At one point, I believed I already had a fairly complete foundation in this space.
But then I read Freedom of Money by sir @cz_binance
And what surprised me was that this book did not add “new concepts” the way the others did. Instead, it made me re-evaluate everything I had already learned from a completely different angle.
It is not as academic as The Bitcoin Standard, not as technical as Mastering Bitcoin, and not as macro-focused as Broken Money. Yet its simplicity, directness, and lived experience created a very different kind of impact.
It feels like looking at the entire crypto market through the eyes of someone who has actually lived through it, rather than someone who has only studied it.
What impressed me most is that after finishing it, the previous books did not lose their value. Instead, they felt like they were being rearranged into a new structure in my mind. I started connecting theory, history, and real-world dynamics into a more coherent picture.
In a sense, if those earlier books helped me understand what crypto is, Freedom of Money helped me feel more clearly how crypto actually operates in the real world.
And because of that, instead of ending my learning journey with the so-called “classics,” I now feel like I am only beginning to understand them properly, from a completely different perspective.
@cz_binance It’s amazing that you interacted with my post. Your book is really great !!!
So good that it keeps me from feeling sleepy. I’m reading it again, this time slower and more carefully, to see if I can discover something even more interesting.
Thanks and good night sir @cz_binance
