I’ve long been puzzled why the Democrats and the media are unhinged when it comes to President Trump.

Viewing videos of his interviews from the 1980s, it’s remarkable how consistent his views and principles have been over the years. And he was not demonized then, but lionized by all of the left-liberals who interviewed him.

I would have said that he was a “Scoop Jackson” Democrat then - probably still is in many ways - strong on patriotism and national defense but basically within the broad limits of what would have been mainstream New York Democrat positions.

President Trump has become more “pro life” since then, but I don’t think that is the reason that the Democrats, the Republican establishment, and their lapdog media hate him so much.

I think the underlying reason is that for the first time, a national administration is working to uncover massive amounts of fraud and waste in government spending, so vast as to make the words “massive” “vast” and “incredible” inadequate.

Abuse of the American taxpayer has been the means to an unending slush fund “beyond the dreams of avarice.” It wouldn’t surprise me if half of our Federal and State deficits are the result of waste and fraud.

President Trump threatens the corruption that has enriched so many, and upon which so many depend.

That’s why he is a threat, and that’s why he is hated.

American citizens were censored in a full on assault of our free speech rights, 25+M people were laid off in 2020, people were fired if they didn’t get his shitty vaxx and others were fully 10000000% cancelled for saying WTF this is all so wrong.

And it’s all because of this tiny shitty man’s will to power. All one giant ego boost while the world burned.

I travel around the world and I am always asked: why doesn’t the other side want to engage with us? Why don’t they want to listen? Hatred is the answer. They hate Israel and dismiss anything associated with it.

Last week I used a video of Ben Gvir’s to illustrate how hatred prevents us from thinking clearly.

The video circulated on the internet is of Ben Gvir discussing with a Bedouin man in Hebrew about an illegal structure slated for demolition. The English subtitles were invented. Ben Gvir actually said: if a Jew built illegally in Tel Aviv or Beer Sheva, it would be demolished just as fast. The fake subtitles said: “We took Tel Aviv from you. We took Beer Sheva. And you think we’ll let you stay here?”

I chose that clip because Ben Gvir is one of the most hated Israelis alive. That makes him the perfect vehicle for propaganda. Nobody stops to check subtitles on a man they already despise. The words could be insane and people will still nod along, because they expect him to make the craziest statements.

Few engaged with the actual point: that the subtitles were fabricated. They stopped at the name. Their hatred for the man made them deaf to the argument being made about the video.

Sit with that for a second, because it’s the answer to the questions I get asked constantly.

It’s not that the facts aren’t convincing. It’s that hatred closes the door before the facts get a chance to knock. I watched it happen in miniature, in the comments, from people on my own side. Show them a name they hate, and reasoning stops. The subject alone triggers the shutdown, no matter what’s actually being said about it.

That’s not a Ben Gvir problem. It’s the same mechanism at work in the wider Israel problem. I’m comparing the sentiment and the reaction it leads to.

Years of propaganda condition a brain to shut a subject out on contact. Once that conditioning is in place, it doesn’t matter what you say next. The door is already closed.
Anti-Zionists hate Israel the same way many Israelis hate Ben Gvir. Many will argue that unlike hating Ben Gvir, hating Israel is based on lies. Indeed, but the masses who hate Israel fell for the lies. They look at destroyed Gaza and they despise the IDF. They don’t know that their sentiment is built on a skewed perception of the conflict. They believe inflated casualty numbers reported by Hamas that blurs the line between civilian and combatant. They sympathize with Hamas that prevented civilians from leaving the war zone after starting this war. In addition to claims of genocide and starvation that have been used to manipulate global opinion. They truly believe that the Israelis have been abusing the Palestinians since the Nakba.

If you want to understand why your facts bounce off someone, stop asking what facts they’re missing. Look at the propaganda they are fed. That’s where you’d have to start. Use your charm to be loved in order to be heard. And know that it won’t work with everyone. And that’s okay.

Personally, I worry mostly about the propaganda machine that fabricates such videos around the clock, incites day in, day out. Since day one, since the attack on the 7th of October, I saw the world heading toward a clash between two opposite camps that can no longer be described as left and right. The radical left and the radical right closed in from both sides and met on hatred. Together they form a chokehold around us, and we are the minority in the center, squeezed with less air to breathe each day.

Israel is at the heart of that center and it cannot afford division. If the nucleus fractures, humanity will witness a dystopian anarchy. We simply cannot let that happen. We need that propaganda machine dismantled. How? That is the biggest challenge we are facing in this ideological war and nobody can offer a solution yet.
