It has no [water] rudder and there's not enough airflow over the surfaces to use [air] rudder.
That plane either had to cut power or desperately increase power and try to get into the air.
They had NO other options. None.

@jonbbc This is why the increasingly driver-assist method of developing self-driving cars will set us back decades. The time it takes for the driver to "get their head in the game" is going to be more dangerous than loading up on extensive sensors and then taking the steering wheel away.
