Planned obsolescence, HP style
My HP laptop recently started popping up messages that HP would no longer support parts or service for this model. Simultaneously, every time I stop using it and start again, it says I'm not connected to the internet. Annoying way to market. Legal?
This is indeed sad news. You are the best. I hope you'll open up about the attacks and sources of legal troubles. Work of your quality needs to be defended. To defend you, your supporters need to understand the battle.
Some very sad news from The China Project. For me, this was more than a job: it was a calling. But don't worry. I still hear the calling. https://t.co/uYNoblqRMp
Agree with your concern. Her small yard, high fence is the right policy but not the actual policy. The key policies in place reflect security experts' earlier defeats of Yellen.
@WilliamHOverhol One wonders how representative her views are of the Biden Administration. Statements by others appear to define the US-China relationship almost exclusively in terms of competition.
This article and the new liaison groups are a repudiation of Campbell's comprehensive disengagement but Campbell is being promoted. Secretary Granholm has built a whole career on false assertions that declining car jobs are caused by China. Who's up? Is there any coherent policy?
Except for sensitive locations, bans on Chinese land purchases just prevent Americans from profiting at Chinese expense. Many Chinese are desperate to get their money out of China and pay a premium for that escape. Same stupidity happened with Japan.

Yes! "We should not make the mistake of becoming so consumed with our competition with China that we become defined by it." @SecYellen https://t.co/5xwwQKTJKL
Yes. And a very thorough investigation by multiple U.S. departments revealed no other claimants. All PHL maps from 1939 on show Scarborough as PHL territory. Documentation all in Paredes, Alexandra. 2014. Bajo de Masinloc: Scarborough shoal maps and documents.
This is sooo false. The PH Commonwealth govt formally staked a claim to Scarborough in 1937 and wrote to the US Depts of State and War to confirm that.
Aside from the politics Mazza is right that this is a crucial test. We failed a more important test on Scarborough Shoal in 2012, with broad regional consequences. That makes this round more important than it should be.
Chinese ships have:
• Directed a military-grade laser at a Philippines Coast Guard vessel
• Blasted Philippine charter boats with water cannons
• Erected barriers on Philippine fishing grounds

Every journalist on Sunday or other talk shows interviewing the new speaker needs to read this piece, even better listen to those podcasts, and push Johnson to explain.

“Last year, Ukraine received almost $47 billion in US defense aid, while Israel has been the beneficiary of more than $300 billion since its founding…Since 2015, the US’ total defense aid to the Philippines has been around $1 billion…”

The United States stands with our Philippine allies after dangerous maneuvers by PRC Coast Guard and maritime militia vessels caused collisions with Philippine vessels operating lawfully near Second Thomas Shoal.

Good news that @Stanford is launching a pilot initiative on US-China relations and diplomacy at its Peking University Center. Academic re-engagement with China is critical for all of us.
