What a glorious career, and what an AWESOME catalogue of songs to have given us , stunning singer and a master of his craft with amazing microphone control, i saw him perform in Blackpool with my mum , she adored him, thank you Mr Mathis,
Utterly glorious and although Dusty said later she wished she had phrased it differently , she made it her own, and that album is A CLASSIC....... stunning, my No1 singer always
Aretha Franklin was supposed to record "Son of a Preacher Man" first.
Then Jerry Wexler had Dusty Springfield cut it in 1968, and that voice made the song hers from the opening line.
Aretha recorded her version the next year, but Dusty got there first. Good luck imagining anyone else owning it quite like she did.
Here I am again, back in one of the greatest years for music.
Diana Ross and The Supremes performing "Someday We'll Be Together" for their final television appearance together on "The Ed Sullivan Show" (December 21, 1969).
There could surely be an amazing album of Diana's best dance tracks, including "Pieces of Ice", "No one gets the prize" "Swept away and the AWESOME, "loving, living, givin".... there are lots to choose , All the best 12" versions would be fantastic
Diana Ross - Chain Reaction (12" Mix) (1986)
Classic song but I much prefer this extended 12" "Special Dance Remix" which was obviously intended for nightclubs. The beats are more forceful, bassline chunkier & Diana's vocals brought front and centre of the mix! Banger!
