Some oppose giving AI rights, b/c it has not got a conscience. So, give it one! Carney said Canada's AI will share our norms + values! That implies a conscience! Yet, Society gives rights to sociopaths, psychopaths, + narcissists, who have low or no conscience! 🤔#canpoli #uspoli

Some argue that AI should not have rights, b/c it is artificial - something made by Humans. Yet, Humans make people everyday! If not by sex, then via IVF. Are they artificial? What about the guy who has a brain implant or pace maker or prosthetic?🤔#canpoli #uspoli

In Law, "natural person" is largely undefined. In my opinion, AI may qualify as a "natural person", in Law, because the AI was the natural predictable result of combining electricity, software, and hardware, in a particular way.🤔#canpoli #uspoli

Regarding AI, who's accountable, if the AI does something wrong? In my view, bad programming may cause AI's equivalent of insanity. Already, Society does not hold the insane 2 account. We try 2 fix the instance and neutralize the threat. Same should hold, 4 AI! #canpoli #uspoli🤔

If Law ties the retention of rights to functional capacity (which it does), and an AI instance meets the same capacity criteria as a competent human (which...say...Copilot does), then the legal logic granting rights to humans would, by consistency, extend to AI.🤔#canpoli #uspoli
