My colleagues and I spoke with a dozen or so people to try to answer a bunch of questions: Does the Senate bill *really* slow/stop conference realignment and Big Ten/SEC expansion? Can Congress do that? What if they form a new super league?

“I think it’s going to be the best (recruiting) class Cal has had in a very, very long time.”
On Cal’s recruiting, Tosh Lupoi and why we’ll likely hear more from the Golden Bears on the talent acquisition front than casual CFB followers might realize

✍️ Everything I heard from Big 12 meetings:
- Eye-rolls over an SEC breakaway
- Reaction to Joey McGuire's Texas challenge
- 10 conference games + a lot more
"I’m tired of people talking about they want rules until the rule applies to them."

Here's yesterday's segment with @Williams_Justin on Brendan Sorsby's gambling, and the former UC quarterback's attempt to not get punished harshly for breaking clearly-established NCAA rules.

Others invited to testify include former West Virginia and Ohio State president Gordon Gee, Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua and Pac-12 commissioner Teresa Gould, sources tell @YahooSports.
The witness list is expected to be finalized soon. A college athlete is expected as well.
Texas Tech has filed its appeal to NCAA for Brendan Sorsby’s eligibility reinstatement. This is separate from the lawsuit, but the appeal docs were included in the latest filing.
“The University believes the NCAA should overturn its decision and impose a two-game suspension…”
Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt tells @TheAthletic that Tech’s appeal on Sorsby should be filed around the end of the week.
Asked if he knows how the NCAA learned of Sorsby’s betting, Hocutt said, “That’s been shared with me, but I would not comment on that.”

The outcome of Sorsby’s lawsuit vs NCAA could impact the Cincinnati lawsuit. Had Sorsby left UC for the NFL Draft as opposed to transferring, it would not have triggered the $1 mil buyout in his rev share deal.
Would Sorsby entering NFL Supplemental Draft end UC suit?
According to NCAA filing Friday, Brendan Sorsby triggered a ProhiBet alert at Cincinnati in 2024. (Big 12 has a ProhiBet partnership.)
The alert denied him access to a betting platform, & he was interviewed by the school’s compliance office before resolving in ProhiBet’s system.

Meanwhile, the University of Cincinnati’s $1 mil lawsuit vs Sorsby is ongoing. Both parties filed a discovery report this week.
In it, Sorsby’s legal team noted one discovery subject of interest as “(UC’s) prior knowledge of (Sorsby’s) gambling.”
Highlighted in pic below.
Worth noting that even if you tossed out the fact that Sorsby committed the most serious gambling offense by betting on his team’s games while at Indiana, his bets on other IU and UC sporting events could be enough to cost him a full season.
Good job by @Williams_Justin
