@DanNeidle@Jacob_Rees_Mogg Worth pointing out this only applies between 50 and 60k, but agree it makes no sense - much better to phase child benefit out from 50 to 100k, or if worried about tax take, do it from, say, 40-70k. And the cliff at 100k is really dumb.
@t0nyyates I would say that much of Labourโs support is anti-Tory sentiment, and so the polls represent peopleโs feeling on who to vote for to get Tories out. When it comes to an election, whichever party is best placed to beat Tories does well - including LD - see by-elections.
@dave_chivers@jdportes One counterpoint worth considering - at least this allows people to think critically about stats without confirmation bias that often restricts such thinking. Maybe this sort of thing actually helps.
@kallmemeg@BristOliver @snj_1970 Well the report doesnโt explicitly say that is the case, but my rudimentary statistical knowledge suggests that is the most likely scenario!
@allthecitizens@chrischirp Surely the real problem is that anybody thinks a twitter poll should have any influence at all in decision making? With or without bots, they are fundamentally flawed.
@adamjkucharski@matthewsyed Risk taking is invigorating. In life as in sport. So if youโre bored and unmotivated, it may be time to take more risk. Provided that you can also throw off the fear of failure, because more risk will lead to more failure on occasions.
@adamjkucharski@matthewsyed Sure, moving the game faster can turn draws into wins. But it can also turn draws into losses. So itโs only a positive when you play better than the other team. Test cricket is, imo, a very psychological game. Again imo, the biggest boost Stokes has brought is psychological
