MD's Tax-Free Week is back! Now through Aug 15, clothing and shoes $100 or less per item are exempt from the 6% state sales tax. The first $40 of backpacks is tax-free too. Great timing for back to school. Shop local, Montgomery County!

I am deeply saddened by the passing of former State Senator Karen S. Montgomery, a principled public servant who spent more than a decade fighting for Montgomery County.
Behind every one of those numbers is a child we have not yet reached.
That is the work ahead. We will keep investing in educators, literacy, and the supports our highest-need students depend on.
New state test scores are in, and Montgomery County students are growing in reading, math, and science, outperforming the state across the board.
Nearly 59% of our students are proficient in English, compared to 52% statewide.

Persistent gaps between racial groups did not narrow this year. Neither did gaps for students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and students from low-income families.
This week, Montgomery County moved to acquire White's Ferry, its operations, and the Maryland landing.
Upcounty residents have waited five years for this crossing. As County Executive, I will work with our counterparts in VA to bring it back.
We are celebrating the primary election victory of @willjawando for Montgomery County Executive! He will be a champion for the @32BJSEIU led Worker Displacement law and stand with workers in enforcing their rights to not lose work through no fault of their own.
Happy 4th from Einstein HS! Celebrating our nation's 250th with the Department of Recreation was a joy. Great music, great food, and so many wonderful neighbors together.
Today's ruling is a blow to the integrity of our elections. Government must serve everyone, not the highest bidder.
We need stronger campaign finance reform now. Our democracy depends on it. https://t.co/qi7rF8CXld

Our opponents insist on spending dark money and spreading lies. We are running a different kind of campaign: a movement rooted in truth and powered by people.
My focus remains where it has always been: fighting for the everyday working families of this county.
As Montgomery County residents began early voting this month, an anonymous, unsubstantiated complaint was filed against our campaign. This morning, the State Board of Elections closed its inquiry, finding no evidence of coordination and no violation of state law. ๐งต
We are up against forces who think they can buy this election. More than a million dollars in out-of-state and special interest money has flooded this race, much of it spent on ads designed to mislead and manipulate voters.
