Ds2 has a problem called ‚adaptability’ stat which soft forces you to lv it up so you have enough I-frames on your dodges & backsteps in order to avoid dmg
ONLY DS2 did that and its one of many things why its bad

Also you can literally approach and then dodge away/walk away the moment the splash graphic happens so you avoid the grab & then you kill it
