I remember getting this exact “Talk” when I was around 12 or 13, being told I can’t do the same things my white friends can do, being instructed on how to conduct myself if I was to ever be stopped by law enforcement in order to not escalate a situation and get home safely😔😔😔… then having to implement said instructions on numerous occasions with run ins with law enforcement throughout my nearly 40 years of life… it’s sad we still have to teach our children these things still to this day because even with all the progress that has been made some things still haven’t changed… I pray that one day my people will get reprieve from these constant racial bias and we can be able to just exist without the constant fear that going out into the world on a normal day might just be our last because of an unfortunate run in with the wrong person with a badge and a gun…
