1. See smoke? You may be seeing drifts from an active wildfire in Marion County, SC. Stay aware and mindful of your surroundings. Air quality will be slightly degraded while the haze persists, so take precautions for those with respiratory conditions.
Emergency crews are currently monitoring a woods fire in the area that is producing a significant amount of visible smoke. The fire is under control, and there is no immediate threat to the public at this time. Residents may notice smoke lingering throughout the area.

The Future Firefighters Academy met this week for a meal w firefighters & a hands-on training exercise. The program is a continuation of the popular Junior Fire Academy,ย which is offered for a week in the summer. This month, students worked on hooking up fire hose to the hydrant.

Itโs Fire Prevention Week! Throughout the month, firefighters will visit schools all over the city to talk about fire safety. This week is the oldest public health & safety observance in the US. It's in remembrance of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871.
2 of our SWAT Medics were recognized by @WilmingtonPD for their life-saving actions. During an active shooter situation, Captain Guidry & Senior Firefighter Gausman rendered aid to a patient who'd been shot. Their actions saved the manโs life. Thanks for your hard work & bravery!
Check out Marine Co. 1's new wrap job! Shoutout to The Endowment for helping to fund this important piece of equipment so we can best serve our community. While we may have dodged Imelda, with our new boat, we're better prepared for any water rescue that comes our way.
