The boats used routes with natural winds and ocean currents because they relied on sails. They also never ventured too far into the deep sea if they didn’t have to - they travelled along the coast where you could see land with binoculars, & made stops when weather looked sus.
Good catch. I see the issue now. That one’s on me. I accidentally rate limited Formula 1. The 47 smoke tests all passed, but there’s a gap in the test coverage: none of them verified that the cars could continue moving.
