The US has been bombing the Middle East my entire life, and yet, here we are still bombing the Middle East. It hasn’t enriched my life any, but at least the executives over at Raytheon are getting paid. The rest of us are still in debt, struggling with bills, praying our sons and daughters don’t wind up in the meat grinder of endless wars.
Understanding the State of Our Democracy and Christian Nationalism: Lessons from a Traveler and a Bishop
I’m very concerned about the political pickle our country’s in — and so is Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee, a Lutheran bishop who is responsible for 120 ELCA churches in Northwest Washington. So, we recently invited our neighbors to gather together for an evening with us so we could explain, in the words of the great Elvin Bishop, “What the hell’s goin’ on.” I gave my take, and Shelley gave hers. And we filled the Edmonds Center for the Arts… twice.
It was an exhilarating evening, and we’d like to share this very timely message with a much broader audience — and that includes you. (And if you can help us broadcast this even further, it can also include your own network of family and friends.)
My talk about the current state of American democracy — including a step-by-step rundown of how the Trump administration is following the classic playbook used by fascist autocrats — is available here: https://t.co/DhwYGU9jbo
And Bishop Shelley’s talk, which shares a hard look (inspired by scripture) at the perversion of Christianity called “Christian Nationalism,” can be found here: https://t.co/49BSv9iG9Y

This killing of Alex Pretti reveals a dark truth about the administration's view of gun rights: they are not universal. They are reserved for the "right" kind of people. If you are a MAGA supporter, your gun is a symbol of freedom. If you are a protester in Minneapolis, your gun is proof of terrorism.
The "right to bear arms" has been replaced by the "privilege to bear arms," contingent on political alignment. This is the hallmark of a militia state, not a constitutional republic.
Prince Harry, who served in the war in Afghanistan, says the “sacrifices” of British soldiers during the conflict there “deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect” — a rebuke of President Trump’s comments about NATO soldiers. https://t.co/nqcY3kVVKT
What’s happening in Minnesota is waking up the whole country. People don’t see justice or fairness, and doubling down isn’t going to work. It’s tearing the country apart.
BREAKING: Absolute mayhem as ICE invades Minneapolis neighborhood, grabs teenagers and tussles with local residents observing their actions. This does not make America safe.

George W had a dude huck a shoe at his head. He side stepped and continued speaking.
Obama had protesters screaming out and interrupting a speech. When others asked for them to be removed, he said to let them stay, and spoke to their concerns.
McCain had one of HIS supporters start to say cruel things about his opponent, and he stopped her to stick up for his opponent.
Trump had a guy yell some stuff at him, so he flipped him off, and swore at him.
I’ll never not miss the a president who acts presidential.
