WIMA has been created as a support group to empower Pakistan based women in media, in order to bring quality, inclusivity, diversity and fair representation.
The Women in Media Association (WIMA) strongly condemns the defaming of Nadia Saboohi, a journalist from Geo TV, by PTI figure Mashal Yousafzeyi @AkMashal . Posting her personal mobile number on social media is not only unethical but also a violation of her privacy and safety.
WIMA stand against misogynistic comments from top political leadership, advocating for an inclusive and respectful political discourse tht values the contributions of every individual, regardless of gender. Its time to foster an environment where women's voices are heard & valued
A WIMA delegation met Women's Parliamentary Caucus Secretary Dr. Shahida Rehmani @ShahidaRehmani for a discussion on how #OnlineHarassment impacts women journalists and the role Caucus can play to strengthen the redressal mechanisms/implementation of existing laws.

Every few days with the anger, violence and threats to silence getting worse. This is not just me.There’s a clear, sustained and extremely organized ongoing hate campaign against Canadian journalists since last year. Most of whom are racialised, women and those who are vulnerable.
Over the past years, through various initiatives and partnerships, we’ve worked with a number of individual content creators, and media startups and outlets, and provided support ranging from sustainability grants to studio spaces and tech support on content production.
We at Media Matters for Democracy, through our media sustainability wing, @MediaLabPak (country’s first media accelerator and incubator), have been engaged in a number of initiatives aimed at working towards sustainability for many small to medium media companies/start-ups.
Women in Media Alliance (WIMA) is a community comprising of diverse, fierce, and amazing women journalists/content creators who believe in equality and inclusivity. #WIMACommunity

It's crazy that women still have to fight for their rights. We still live in a society where being a woman is dangerous. Let's remind ourselves and strive towards creating a world deserving of the women around us. Happy Women's Day!
