We were delighted to welcome @Keir_Starmer and @DavidLammy to Wimbledon this morning following Labour’s outstanding local election result - holding onto Merton Council and increasing our majority.
The Prime Minister thanked local campaigners and volunteers for their hard work.
Following the conclusion of our Local Election 2026 count, the Labour Party have retained control of Merton Council.

Out on the doorstep across Wimbledon over recent days - listening to residents and hearing a strong sense of pride in our area.
There’s real support for what’s being delivered locally - and Merton Labour is focused on building on that after 7 May.
From 1 May, renters benefit from stronger protections against rogue landlords, and councils like Merton have more power to enforce the Labour's Renters’ Rights Act.
If Labour is re-elected, we’ll keep delivering for Merton - and I want to play my part locally.
