Her gaze dismantles me.

Not all at once.

Slowly.

Patiently.

Like she has discovered every wall I’ve spent years building and somehow knows exactly where to place her hands.

A single look from her can quiet an entire room.

A lingering glance can follow me for hours.

And when her eyes settle on mine with that unmistakable warmth, I feel something inside me begin to surrender.

Because she doesn’t merely look at me.

She sees me.

The strength I carry.
The weariness beneath it.
The longing I try so hard to disguise.

And that is what undoes me.

The feeling that, for a fleeting moment, there is nowhere left to hide.

No armor.

No performance.

No carefully chosen words.

Only the truth of who I am reflected back to me in her eyes.

There is an intimacy in that which steals my breath.

The way she studies me when she thinks I’m not paying attention.
The way her gaze lingers as though she’s memorizing something she doesn’t want to lose.

And every time it happens, I find myself falling a little further.

Because her gaze feels less like observation…

and more like a gentle unraveling.

A beautiful dismantling of every lonely defense I’ve ever built.

Until all that remains is a heart standing quietly before her—

With so many people myself included facing sticker shock for a lot of of our grocery prices, especially meat prices.

It’s a good time to remember that the origins of BBQ was never about taking the most expensive cuts of meat and making them delicious .
It was taking the discarded tougher cuts and making them amazing through low and slow smoking, marinades and more.

Pork Butts, Picnic & chuck roasts, clods, hams, whole turkey, chicken quarters and whole pork loins are all still very reasonably priced.
