If you’re seeking a solid but less expensive Bordeaux delight, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2011 is unbeatable at $170. For those chasing rarity, Château Cheval Blanc 2009 represents Bordeaux royalty. But if you want the best return on investment for sheer quality, the timeless Château Latour 2005 reigns supreme. 2005 was such a good year for Bordeaux

I just released a GPT called "The Wine Whisperer" - https://t.co/3YWpvYM0m5 Test him out on Food/Wine pairing and he'll tell you why it works, ask about wines and what occasion to match them with, ask him to teach you something new about wine, ask him pretty much anything about wine. Let me know how he does. You need a ChatGPT Plus subscription to use it.

@WineFolly Chateauneuf-du-Pape! The white and black pepper hints if the grenache and syrah go perfectly with the gaminess of the charred edges. Serve with roasted beets and asparagus.
@WineFolly I’m thinking Cab Sav or Shiraz/Syrah:
Fat loves tannin and tannin loves fat
If you love cabs the aromatics will pair well - thyme, rosemary, and bay leaves.
For Shiraz, the acidity will pair with the fat in the meat and the tomato and red wine. It also pairs with the pepper
@matty_trader@WineFolly That’s 100%what I was thinking. The spice and the sweetness with a little acid from the crab apples just screams for a Rhone wine. The white pepper and black pepper from the Grenache and Shiraz just matches the food so much better than a smelly old boring Cabernet Sauvignon!
@JancisRobinson At a wine tasting, I always ask for my wife’s input first. That way I sound smarter when she picks up nuances that I missed. 😃 Sadly, most males oversell their abilities and most females, sadly, undersell theirs.
