Today is Denim Day! Denim Day came about in 1998 after a rape conviction in Italy was overturned because the 18 year old victim (who was raped by her 45 year old driving instructor) was wearing tight jeans. No one has the right to touch us without our consent!
3 Ways you can prevent child abuse: 1. Educate yourself on the types of child abuse and recognize the signs. 2. If you suspect something, report it! You are not meant to KNOW, suspecting is enough. 3. Support your local non profits that support child abuse victims.
As parents and caregivers you must have a good, ongoing relationship with your children. They must know that they can talk with you about anything. "THE talk" is a misconception. To keep them safe you must always be communicating the dangers of child sexual abuse prevention.
The 3 R's of Violence Prevention: RECOGNIZE the abuse is happening-educate yourself on the types of violence that can occur against children. RESPOND to the child-if a child trusts you enough to disclose, believe them. REFER the family to the proper authorities, like the Police

So often people rely on background checks to determine if someone is safe. This stat is a perfect reminder that background checks are not enough because sadly so many sexual perpetrators never even see a court room, let alone a jail cell. This must change!
A couple weeks ago we had the privilege of being honored with a check for over ELEVEN THOUSAND dollars from the 100 Plus Women Who Care! It was an emotional, beautiful day filled with disclosures and healing and hope! SO thankful! #wingedhope#hopeheals
Every 11 seconds a child is reported abused in the United States! It's a hard truth...but it must be talked about! Winged Hope, and so many other amazing organizations, are here, if you suspect abuse and need to talk. #endchildabuse
