@RealUdallVoice @LouiseACPrice@BikeWorcester To be fair, I didn't say it was a problem. The issue I have is the eagerness and celebrating the enforcememt of no cycling rules while the actual great risk to resident/pedestrian safety, motorvehicles, is not addressed.
@LouiseACPrice@BikeWorcester Yet this, just befor that newly painted 'no cycling ' sign, is apparently absolutely fine π€·
@RealUdallVoice
Which is the real issue for pedestrians?
@AndyLxNen @UdallVoice 2/3 journeys are under 5 miles. Roads now would be more than sufficient if we moved more of these short trips to walking & cycling.
More roads = more traffic (induced demand).
EVs are fine where a car is necessary, but they still have an environmental cost, as does road building.
@mikerouse I get the 'perfect is the enemy of good' approach - but this cycle lane is just plain bad. I am really concerned that you view this as good enough.
@alexmace An ancient city with some mutli-lane roads carved right the way through it - plenty of space to accommodate active travel there there! Plus it might help repair some of urban streetscape by making those roads people-centric.
@UdallVoice Because it would cost 100s Β£m, take a decade to deliver, have huge environmental impacts and encourage more driving. Meanwhile we could very quickly and for a fraction of the cost go huge on active travel by reducing speeds, introducing LTNs and reallocating existing road space
@DemocratSteve@goSHIFTscheme@CllrMattJenkins@AracerRacer @MTBfreedom @robjc@mikerouse We have to prioritise. We know we have to reduce car use and we know that we need proper active travel infrastructure to enable it.
If we keep saying there isn't space due to cars then car dependency prevails and nothing changes.
We have to proactively make that step change
Absolutely top notch parking outside Henwick Rd Co-Op. Bonus scumbag points for blocking both the pavement and a disabled space.
There are spaces outside the shop and along the road opposite
@Badparkingworcs@YPLAC@WMerciaPolice@BikeWorcester
@Stephen22133593@CllrMattJenkins @lewing_karen @LynnDenham1@BikeWorcester@WorcsTravel@WMerciaRoads WM Police referred my report to local neighborhood officers who responded to say they've referred to the council π€·
They said they'd conduct extra patrols & issue tickets π
But I have evidence of an offence that isn't being acted on π€
All a bit confusing but good speedy reply
Thanks to these drivers on Belmont St. Whole pavement blocked. Crossed the street only to find one on the other side too. Cue walking into the road with child. How has this become acceptable?
@lewing_karen @LynnDenham1@CllrMattJenkins@BikeWorcester@WorcsTravel@WMerciaRoads
@RightByNature@LouiseACPrice @MimBond I often think... imagine if I just went outside and started throwing bits of plastic and cardboard over my neighbours' fence while shouting really loudly. It's essentially the same thing π
@BikeWorcester I think there must a competition up at County Hall for who can rile cyclists up the most. Cllr Amos has been undisputed champion for years but Cllr Bayliss has well and truly thrown his hat in the ring this year. This is going to need a massive response from Alan. Stay tuned...
