June is Cataract Month! Did you know cataract is the leading cause of blindness in the United States? A cataract is a clouding of the eyeโs clear lens that affects vision.
As part of Cataract Month, @PBA_savingsight offers patients and care partners a variety of educational resources on cataract and cataract surgery - one of the most commonly performed operations in the United States.
Downloadable fact sheets, shareable social media graphics, and additional information are available at the dedicated cataract resource page.

How do I choose a good pair of sunglasses?
Sunglasses need to fit your face well in order to be effective at stopping UV light, so make sure that you get advice when choosing and ask about standards in your country. Speak to a dispensing optician for advice

Why does @PBA_savingsight designate April as Womenโs Eye Health and Safety Month?
Women are disproportionately affected by eye conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, glaucoma, and thyroid eye disease.
According to @AAOjournal, women tend to live longer than men, and because many vision issues are age-related, their risk increases over time.
In addition, social and economic barriers can limit womenโs access to eye care, particularly in developing countries.
