BUILDING ON OUR PROGRESS: A NEW MONTH MESSAGE TO NIGERIAN STUDENTS

Dear Nigerian Students,

It thrills me to welcome you to the month of August and wish you a Happy New Month. It is yet another avenue for us to reiterate our commitment to our shared ideals and collective will.

In this new month, we have to evaluate our activities, take stock of our progress, and appraise our current standing. This is the way to sustainable growth and excellence.

Fellow Nigerian Students, not only does the future depend largely on us, but we also have the responsibility of shaping the present. As such, we must continue to seek knowledge, persistently pursuing excellence.

In the past month, through our sustained advocacy and intellectual engagements, we secured the disbursement of the NELFUND upkeep that was delayed for three months. We enlisted institutions that failed to refund students despite NELFUND intervention and engaged their managements to make refunds immediately and adequately.

We launched the ITF SIWES Payment Verification Portal to verify the status of outstanding SIWES allowances, identify eligible students who are yet to receive their payments, and ensure that they receive their payments without further delay.

We launched the official NANS website and the NANSSafe App, a digital security platform designed to provide students with timely security alerts, incident reports, and safety updates within their immediate environment, thereby enhancing awareness and promoting the safety and well-being of Nigerian students.

We engaged with the Nigerian Correctional Service to advocate for Nigerian students who are unjustly remanded in correctional facilities and those who remain in custody despite being granted bail due to their inability to meet bail conditions.

As we advance, let us build on our progress in this new month, and as we continue to pursue our shared vision, Nigerian students are assured that their interests will always be protected. We will not compromise in our quest for the improved welfare of Nigerian students.

I wish every Nigerian student a Happy New Month filled with overflowing blessings and life-changing opportunities. Let us continue to pursue excellence in all our endeavors.
