Al Jazeera, the Qatari owned news giant, is being accused of employing sensationalist "yellow journalism" after it weaponized a casual video of school children to push a political narrative against Somaliland. Analysts argue the clip does not reflect official policy, calling the network’s overblown coverage a biased attempt to distort Somaliland's image in the Arab world.

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, H.E. Gideon Sa’ar, accompanied by senior Israeli officials, at the Presidential Palace.

President @AbdirahmanIrro characterized Israel’s recognition as a historic and consequential act that formally acknowledges the sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland.

His Excellency also underscored that the decision affirms Somaliland’s established democratic record and internal stability, and firmly positions the Republic as a key contributor to peace and security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.

Minister Gideon Sa’ar reaffirmed the State of Israel’s full commitment to the Republic of Somaliland, stating that Israel’s recognition and this historic visit reflect a principled decision grounded in historical continuity, the right of self-determination, and Somaliland’s proven record as a stable, democratic, and responsible actor in regional and international affairs.

I announced today the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.

Together with Foreign Minister Sa'ar and the President of the Republic of Somaliland, we signed a joint and mutual declaration.

This declaration is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, signed at the initiative of President Trump.

I congratulated the President of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdallah, and praised his leadership and commitment to promoting stability and peace. I invited the President to pay an official visit to Israel.

The President thanked me for this historic declaration and expressed appreciation for my achievements in fighting terrorism and advancing regional peace.

I thank Foreign Minister Sa’ar, the Head of Mossad David Barnea and the Mossad, for their contribution to today’s development, and I wish the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.

The State of Israel plans to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and economy.
