I am stunned by Senator Graham's passing, and thinking back this morning about some of the work we did together. My prayers are with his family and all who cherished him. Rest in Peace.
My heart is heavy this morning to learn of the passing of my friend and colleague, Senator Lindsey Graham.
Lindsey’s long and dedicated service in the Air Force and in Congress carried him to far-flung regions of the world. He was a strong advocate for the United States and a strong ally to freedom-loving countries across the globe. He believed in the might of America to achieve good in the world and dedicated his life to advancing that cause.
As South Carolina’s senior senator, Lindsey fought passionately for the Palmetto State. He was a trusted adviser and colleague to me and many others, and numerous presidents and heads of state have relied on his counsel. His influence on the federal judiciary, our national defense, and his beloved South Carolina will be felt for generations.
Kimberley and I pray for Lindsey’s friends and family, and we send our heartfelt condolences during this most difficult time.
Just finished two days of meetings with key ministers and other leaders in Egypt. All the discussions were productive, frank, and friendly. Both countries recognize the mutual benefits of our deep strategic partnership, and I benefited enormously from hearing Egyptian perspectives on a variety of regional conflicts. I’d like to thank my Egyptian hosts for their hospitality and hope to return before too long. 🇺🇸🤝🇪🇬
Senior Presenter Rawia Alami explains the political significance of Trump’s summit in Egypt, calling it a major diplomatic spectacle that reinforces Egypt’s pivotal regional role.

Unlike in past situations, I’m pretty sure this assault inside Qatar will trigger a stronger and more unified Gulf response. Not a military one, obviously, but there is already a subtle and meaningful shift in regional stance vis-a-vis Israel.
This action is consequential if you view it in this subtle context.
Gulf officials had anticipated and feared such escalation inside the Gulf since Oct 7, but the US under both presidents Biden and Trump acted as a buffer to prevent exactly this scenario. Until now. (No chance Israel moved without Washington’s nod, and not just in mid-air.) Both Israel and the US had likely judged that such a step would move the needle and outweigh short-term Gulf anger and rhetoric.
But now that it has happened, it will spur even deeper regional coordination and more organized power projection.
This increased coordination is not to be dismissed. Since Oct 7 the Gulf stance on Gaza has steadily hardened, with better coordination & bolder & tougher resistance to Israeli proposals, most recently the UAE warning about reversing the Abraham Accords.
These moves have already created headaches for Israel in Washington.
Today’s assault will push Gulf states, Egypt, Turkey & others into even tighter coordination. Israel risks underestimating the shifting dynamics around it, because it assumes, so far correctly, that no one is yet powerful enough to stand in its way.
Long term, I see Saudi & regional diplomacy and power projection shifting for a while. It may take a decade or more, but the writing is on the wall for Israel. Unless Israel changes course and stops acting so heavy handed, which seems unlikely, these actions are only accelerating that shift.
You will hear arguments that we didn't give diplomacy with #Iran a chance. That's nonsense. Diplomacy with Iran didn't start in April 2025. It's been happening for years. Tehran rejected offers from President Biden to revive the JCPOA. It rejected offers from President Trump. The Islamic Republic has agency and owns this.
10 This is an unprecedented moment in Iranian history. It could entrench the regime--or hasten its demise. It could prevent a nuclear Iran--or accelerate one. Military attacks/humiliations have both strengthened dictatorships (Iran 1980) and weakened them (Argentina, Milosevic)
All those critical of @potus for not getting congressional authorization before attacking Iran are overlooking the historical record that since WW2 99% of the time US presidents have used military force it was without explicit prior approval from Congress.
#Israel's ground incursions into SW #Syria escalated sharply this past week -- with 18 in 7 days.
They've also turned more aggressive: detaining men & removing them to #Israel; demolishing homes; shuttering roads & razing forests.
Popular frustration & anger is rising. 🧵
An extraordinary, genuinely game-changing development for #Syria, 6 months after #Assad's fall.
#Trump also confirmed @SecRubio will meet with #Syria Foreign Minister @AsaadHShaibani (& #Trump himself will meet Ahmed al-Sharaa) tomorrow.
His Majesty King Abdullah II, #Egypt President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, and #France President Emmanuel Macron held a summit in Cairo to discuss the critical developments in #Gaza#Jordan
America’s devotion to due process is supposed to set us apart. It was crucial to the Founders, who were clear that the public shouldn’t take the government’s word at face value. Sad how many people are willing to discard that because of the political moment.
Dozens of settlers attacked Hamdan Ballal, co-director of the Oscar-winning film "No Other Land," wounding him and others, activists at the scene and Israeli co-director Yuval Abraham said. Witnesses also said Israeli soldiers took him from an ambulance
