I could see this happening if, for example, AI were given a "please ensure world peace"/"stop all conflict" directive. On a micro level, AI has erased code - and therefore an entire system - on the instruction to make it work more effectively. The cost of that change isn't factored.

@AlisonMoyet @BBCOne Such good news re: Slow Horses. Love it! My partner really didn't like DTF St. Louis. I loved it because all the characters were honest. Maybe not likeable, but honest. That doesn't happen a lot now. I felt quite emotional about it.

@matthewdmarsden 80s child here, and the truth for me is somewhere between this. I definitely grew up terrified of a nuclear attack - I think many of us did - and dying from AIDS, as irrational as that was. Chernobyl was a huge event. The 80s were amazing and also unpredictable.
