A man in his 40s was severely injured in a knife attack on a residential street in Belfast. Video from the scene shows what is described as an attempted beheading, with the attacker trying to cut the victim’s throat while repeatedly stabbing him in the head, neck, and face. The victim survived despite suffering serious injuries.

A suspect in his 30s was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Authorities identified him as a Sudanese national who had previously sought asylum in the UK. Police said they were not treating the incident as terrorism at the time, and the motive remains under investigation.

According to witnesses, a local man armed with a hurling stick intervened and helped stop the attack before police arrived, an act many believe saved the victim’s life.

The victim is fighting for his life, and protests have erupted.
