@TMykaleLS I'd appreciate your thoughts on China's growing role in the region in general & The Bahamas in particular. Some say it's beneficial, while others believe their ultimate goal is to dominate small island developing states, esp in the area of technology.
This is a beach in China’s Shenzhen
That’s real trash washed up by the waves
And China wants Scarborough Shoal in the Philippines’ EEZ and is making it a “nature reserve.”
Clean your own filthy coast before claiming islands thousands of kms away from you, China.
I haven't lived in New Providence for years. What's with all these outages?!? How can this country become autonomous if the infrastructure is crumbling?!?
I've been saying #FixPMH for months & months. Now that staff and patients are wading through floodwaters & against my better judgment, I'm wondering if a new hospital would actually be better for Bahamians?
Hmmm...given how expansive their push into the Caribbean has been, it's not encouraging to see #Huawei trying to hide something like this. Huawei EV Charging Pushes Into European Depots: EU Already Froze Its Solar Parts https://t.co/DGqDFWr05f
Lights, Camera, Action!
In normal countries, flood rescue videos show real people being pulled to safety.
In China, they stage the same scenes because filming the real thing risks showing delayed response, chaos, and victims left to drown.
When the image of saving people matters more than actually saving them, what does that say about the system?
Every nation in the Caribbean needs to come together on protections against abuse of #AI & creating a cyber security framework. Dealing with malign vessels, while important, is a separate issue IMHO.
The United States and Antigua & Barbuda co-hosted the Global Maritime Security and Sanctions Enforcement Symposium in St. John’s, uniting 26 countries against illicit activities, sanctions evasion, and vessels funding malign actors. Chargé d’Affaires Karin Sullivan emphasized that the Caribbean is a first line of detection and defense, and this symposium is building international collaboration to strengthen security throughout the Western Hemisphere.
I don't think this is possible, given the distrust of China's technology, but I'd like to hear other opinions. How the US and China can cooperate to reduce urgent AI risks https://t.co/OsaeIIS8ci
These young ladies will become leaders in this country one day & serve on the front lines of The Bahamas' digital frontier. Kudos to the adults sending them on this trip. #CyberWizards2026 🇧🇸 https://t.co/Xdbk4AYHkg
